Relationships
Perko: In my head they're a big, broad family of loveable, if quick witted and sharp humoured, rogues. Working together as a force of nature in the merchant world. So nothing but good intentions for the youngest from all the siblings and older generations. As for names I hadn't thought really. How about Mother and Father Jean and Dai. 3 Sisters and 1 Brother. Alys, Carys, Gwen and Lewis.
Characteristics
Family of merchants now based in Suhder. Gained their wealthy mercantile empire through gossip, intrigue, spying, blackmail and occasionally, when all else fails, assassination. Using their network of merchants throughout the lands and their gained/bought knowledge to their advantage cornering markets, investing early and expanding ahead of their competitors.
Original fortune was through accident. Finding out about an oncoming conflict and dealing arms, food, clothing, medical supplies etc to both sides. Since then knowledge has been sought as the basis for all investment, deals etc as knowing the most, especially when mediating or playing both sides of any deal is always profitable.
Whilst never directly competing with crime their network of merchants buy and sell information, unique items and occasionally favours with the criminal underground. The family has long since left it’s base criminal past behind but has never forgot where it came from whilst efficiently hiding it from the rest of the respectable world.
At ease with both the wealthy elites and various criminal organization. Presenting a double front with the outwardly reputable business, often having alter egos for dealing with the less reputable elements of society.
Rees, the youngest of the family is out and about to learn the ways of the world as well as look for chances to expand the families control, influence, knowledge and wealth. As is common amongst his family, fate and chance are part of finding your way and gaining a wider network of information or revenue streams takes decades, perhaps a century, before they contemplate settling down. Trained in the families espionage and all that entails since an early age. Being such a close knit and secretive group all he has truly known is family with the occasional tutor filling in portions of his education. Has excelled in the more deceitful, acrobatic and fighting elements rather the analytical use of the knowledge, it’s application and ramifications. Something his family hopes he’ll grow into as he matures.
